Kunja Village Homestay

Founded
Co-Founder Kunja, Almora, Uttarakhand2021 — Present · renovating

My wife Roma and I are renovating our ancestral property in Kunja, in the hills of Almora, into a small homestay — the idea is simple: keep the old place alive and running. A deliberately offline, hands-on hospitality venture, the opposite of software in almost every way, which is exactly the appeal.

Learnings

  • Renovating an ancestral home is preservation, not construction — you're keeping a place, and its stories, alive.
  • You can't refactor a wall — physical things are unforgiving in a way code never is.
  • Hospitality is the product. Nobody remembers the floor plan; they remember how it felt to wake up there.
